What is the difference between
Recycled and FSC Certified sheets?
Recycled papers as defined by the EPA, contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer waste. Post-consumer is defined as paper, paperboard and other paper waste from office building, homes and retail stores. It would be items that have been diverted from the waste stream, also old newspapers, magazines, junk mail and even used corrugated boxes. The important part is that these papers are from the consumers or end-use products. Also under the term of recycled paper are pre-consumer paper fibers, such as paper waste generated after the paper making process. This would also include manufacturing waste from the converting process from trimming and cutting before it goes to the end-use customer.
FSC guarantees that the FSC certified paper product has been made from environmentally and socially sustainably managed forests.
